Colostomy is a serious surgical operation that requires a long term of rehabilitation. During the procedure, your colon is cut and brought outside through the abdominal wall thus creating stoma (artificial opening). Excrements have to be collected in a special colostomy bag that is attached to the opening and is fixated by a special belt. Usually, the procedure is a temporary measure. After a healing process is complete, corrective surgery can be done and no one will ever know about your operation. But it is very important to complete a full course of rehabilitation. Modern technology and medicine provide a lot of goods and devices that help patients to recover without constant discomfort.
Any operation of such a complexity will require some time to recover. Abdominal pain during the first weeks after the operation is treated by medications. Sometimes it takes up to 5 days for the normal function of bowel to restore; during this period of time intravenous feeding is required. Special diet is also a must for people with colostomy.
To avoid any problems you need to learn how to take care of your colostomy, use special devices and materials during any operations with colostomy. Wash your hands before and after changing of a colostomy bag. Clean and moisten your skin with Convatec and Hollister supplies for colostomy and ostomy or at least use mild soap (not recommended). Empty and clean your bag before going to bad and if it is 2/3 full. Always keep all your supplies within an easy reach and buy it in reserve in order to be on the safe side. Don’t lead any active life and no heavy weight lifting is allowed. If you feel any pain or your opening is bleeding, contact your doctor at once.
Remember, that colostomy is just a temporary discomfort and very soon you are to return to your normal active life that, I believe, will be full of happiness.

Usually people think that drug abuse and addiction is just a social problem. Those who take drugs are believed to be morally weak or have certain criminal tendencies. And that it is all the matter of will to abandon drugs. Unfortunately it’s not just as simple as it looks to be.
Drug addiction is not just taking a lot of drugs; it is a chronic, relapsing illness. Addicted person suffers from a compulsive drug craving and usage and just can’t quit by himself. Drugs interfere with normal brain functioning and create powerful feelings of pleasure, but there are some negative long-term effects on brain metabolism and activity. Sooner or later the addict turns from drug abuse into drug addict. And only professional drug treatment center can help him to rehabilitate.
Rehabilitation is a process during which a full or partial recovery happens. Rahabilare (lat.) – to become yourself again, to return back home. A human being loses his natural capacities after an illness, injury or drug (alcohol) addiction, so he will be rehabilitated as soon as all these capacities are back again.
Rehabilitation, concerning drug addiction, means not simply avoiding drugs, recovery can only be achieved if the addict does not relapse or return to drug abuse. Medical and moral drug rehabilitation also means that the person has to re-integrate in the community and become a valued and productive person again.

Endothelial dysfunction is a very serious disturbance of biochemical processes in the body. But before talking about this disease, it is necessary to know what endothelium is. All blood vessels in the body are lined by endothelial cells. The function of these cells is very important, they are responsible for: immune function, blood pressure control, control of electrolyte content of the body and many more. Endothelial dysfunction may develop from bad lifestyle habits (drinking alcohol and smoking tobacco), genetic diseases, diabetes, hypertension and negative environmental factors.
Endothelial dysfunction is believed to be responsible for heart attacks and stroke as well as atherosclerosis. This disease results in the inability of blood vessels to dilate to the maximum when the body needs it. And that in its turn makes our heart and circulatory system to work with serious overload.
It is necessary to diagnose endothelial dysfunction as soon as possible. Ask your physician about the possibility of the appearance of the dysfunction. It is very easy to restore a proper endothelial function in case of early and proper diagnosis. Balanced diet and special physical exercises may significantly improve endothelial function, but in any case, doctor’s advice is quite obligatory. Always “listen” to your body and ask for competent help in case of any problems and your life will be long and happy.
